[Who was found in a ~~pineapple under the sea~~ dumpster on Furya as a kid and really doesn't give much of a shit about parent-oriented holidays except for the tension it's causing? This guy! Who's pissed off because one of the kitchen badasses is down? This guy! Who has learned to cook instead of murder when he's feeling tense?

Who out of all you people knows what a bagel tastes like? I need taste-testers. I always fuck up my sugar content on the first try.

[By the time Riddick comes down, he's done an iteration or two and the plain bagel and onion variety are actually pretty edible. He brings them in a paper-towel lined bowl, with a dish of cream cheese, lays them down like weaponry in front of Megamind.]

Safe as I'm gonna be. [ Non answer. ]

Everything work out okay? They smell good.

[He shrugs.]

They take for-fucking-ever but apparently this batch is a'ight for non-Furyan consumption. First batch, I brought one a couple for the boys, at least they'll have the jaw strength for it.

[He hadn't realized they were too tough to chew. He can bite through bone, and does: they were fine to him. They'll be good rawhide substitutes]

Done and lost. It's over. He's made his call.

[ Megamind shrugs, and puts bagel in his mouth so he doesn't have to talk about his personal failures. ]

[Riddick makes a soft sound more like something a large predator would than anything particularly human. A low rattling groan. It's sympathetic.]

I'm sorry.

[He intrudes into Megamind's personal space briefly, as he's eating, crouches and leans in to lay his temple against the other warden's, shoving gently. Then he retreats to acceptable social range.]

[ Megamind just-- keeps his big head ducked; there's plenty of temple to nudge, and he allows it without complaint. ]

[ Rather then speak of the hurt that wells up, he clamps down, chewing. ]

These are pretty good.

Good. Fucking baking will end me. Everything else I can go by the recipe most of the time, the smell.

[He sprawls back into the chair and pulls out one of his first, less successful batch, grinding through it meditatively.]

If Minion were here, he'd teach you his tricks of baking. He can't eat anything he bakes, you know. Can't digest it. He eats fish flakes and the occasional protein dump of raw meat.

I need to talk to this guy, obviously. I'll even be real careful with my proteins around him.

Oh, he'll eat fish. He's -- well, the closest approximation is an angler fish crossed with a piranha. You remember-- the underwater port? all my lights, they were like his.

[ And he even got to touch base with him. He was so happy, to see him again, after months apart. ]

I just can't. I just-- ugh. Nope. Can't even think about it. Makes my stomach flip.

S'a'ight. Most humans have meat taboos I don't either. You're not any weirder to me than any of the rest of them.

I really did like that life, though. Just... restful.

I still got a bunch of stuff in the lair from it. Little odds and ends, you know? I-- it was my last things I did with Kay as an inmate, really.
